The Geechee Sailing Club is the proud host of the annual St. Patrick’s Regatta, now in our 42nd year! On March 20, sailors took to the water to test their racing prowess. The day was breezy with lots of sun and blue sky. There were three fleet races for the four classes: Spinnaker, Non-Spinnaker, Cruising, and One Design: J/24. Initially scheduled for March 21, the Pursuit Race was postponed because of torrential downpours to the 28th. It turned out to be another perfect day for sailing. Staggered starts were calculated with the goal of boats approaching the finish line in close proximity. All boats started within 34 minutes of each other, and then finished within 23 minutes of each other. It was very exciting as the fasted boat (with the lowest rating of 93) only beat a Rhodes 19 (with a rating of 255) by inches!
