The Geechee Sailing Club is the proud host of the Annual St. Patrick’s Regatta.  Number 45 was held the weekend of March 23-24, 2024 on the Wilmington River of Savannah.  The forecast for the Saturday was horrible.  So much so that one of the boats didn’t venture out (to the regret of the skipper).  Miraculously, the sun came out and the wind held steady at 10 knots, allowing us to complete two Fleet Races.

That evening, the skippers & crews plus spouses, sponsors, and Geechee Sailing Club members enjoyed a wonderful evening at Molly McGuire’s on Wilmington Island.  Beer and wine flowed as everyone had a delicious buffet while watching a slide show of photos taken during the day.  Fleet race winners received trophies, a tricky tray raffle was held, and a celebratory cake was served.  On Sunday, we had clear blue skies but winds strong enough to generate white caps, which forced the Rhodes 19 fleet to stay docked.  However, fourteen boats still braved the elements and came out to race.

This year the Race Committee gave a Sportsmanship Award to a boat who really fought against a strong current but never gave up.  Truly inspirational!
