2008 St. Patrick's Regatta Registration Form 2008 St. Patrick's Regatta Notice of Race Racing: The Geechee Sailing Club sponsors two PHRF regattas each year. The first one is the St. Patrick’s Regatta, typically held the weekend following St. Patrick’s Day. The second regatta is Oktoberfest, usually held the first weekend of October. Starts are dependent on wind and tide conditions, but are typically held in the Wilmington River between Turner’s Creek and Wassaw Sound. Self-righting yachts whose length overall is 21' or greater are invited to compete. Both regattas are governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing 1997-2000 as adopted with prescriptions by the United States Sailing Association, the rules of competing classes racing, and the Sailing Instructions. Saturday following the first day of racing, competitors and GSC members are invited to attend a dinner. Locations and times vary and are announced with each event’s Invitation to Race. At the completion of racing on Sunday, awards are presented for the top three boats in Classes A, B, and C. An Invitation to Race and Registration Form are posted to the Club’s website approximately one month prior to each event. The Race Committee adopted some handicapping rules two years ago to help assign PHRF handicap ratings for our regattas. The document is about 6 pages long and can be downloaded in Adobe Acrobat format. Click here to download.
