AN OPPORTUNITY TO GIVE BACK:

As many of you know, John and Kathy Willis have made several treks to the Bahamas over the past few years. They have an idea to present to the Geechee Club that involves giving a little of what we have to those who have little. John will cover this more at the meeting, but here is a little information to get you started and for those who might not be there Monday night.

The Bahamian schools have a great need for basic supplies such as pencils, paper, notebooks, and other classroom tools. They have to import everything they use, so much of the money allotted for schools goes to pay import taxes. Cruisers can take supplies and donate them directly to the schools, so our US dollars spent in the US can go much further than if they are sent for the Bahamians to buy supplies there. John and Kathy are willing to be the couriers of these supplies when they return to the Bahamas this winter. We will provide a more definitive list of items in the next few editions.
